Angela Rayner admits Labour's plan for 1.5m new homes is a stretch
Just 295,150 properties were finished over the last two years, meaning the government is currently missing its 300,000 annual goal. Speaking on Friday, the Housing Secretary blamed the shortfall on expensive building materials, the previous Conservative administration, and conflict in Iran. She compared the original pledge to completing a marathon in less than five hours, but promised to keep the policy.
