Andy Burnham plans third Labour leadership try

A well-known mayor is making a move for the top political job. Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is attempting a third bid to become Labour leader, but must first win a by-election in Makerfield. He previously ran twice unsuccessfully over ten years ago, and Reform UK came second there by 5,399 votes in the 2024 election.
