Flight 41 carried 234 passengers and 11 crew when it touched down safely at Chicago O'Hare at around 2.30pm on Tuesday. The airline said fire crews met the plane as standard procedure, and passengers were bussed to the terminal. American Airlines has taken the Boeing 787-800 out of service for inspection, while the FAA, America's aviation regulator, said it will investigate.
