Alice Springs Erupts After Arrest Over Five-Year-Old's Death
Violent unrest erupted in Alice Springs after police arrested Jefferson Lewis, 47, for the alleged murder of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby. Crowds gathered outside Alice Springs Hospital, hurling projectiles and setting a police car alight. Officers used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the crowd, and several were injured. Lewis was flown to Darwin for his safety in the early hours of Friday.
