Al Carns: UK defence plan needs more cash
This is a major blow for the government, as former armed forces minister Al Carns quit, saying UK defence plans are badly funded and outdated. He resigned on Thursday, hours after his boss, the defence secretary, also left following weeks of arguments over spending. The Ministry of Defence wanted £18bn over four years for its plan, but the Treasury only agreed to £13.5bn.
