AI wrote 32% of new arXiv papers, study of 12,750 finds

A study of 12,750 papers on arXiv, a science paper archive, found around 32% of recent submissions appear machine-written. The figure has climbed steadily since ChatGPT launched, after staying flat at 0.4% in 2021 and 2022. Computer science papers show the highest rate at about 65%, while mathematics papers are lowest at 0.7%.
