Afghanistan's government said on Sunday that the war in neighbouring Iran would have long-term negative consequences across the entire region. Foreign ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi expressed 'deep regret' over the violence, which has spread beyond Iran to Gulf countries.
