Putin: 'Specialists' must meet before Zelenskiy talks
Prospects for direct talks to end the war remain uncertain after Russia's leader said more groundwork is needed before any top-level meeting can happen. Speaking on June 5, Vladimir Putin rejected an immediate face-to-face discussion proposed by Volodymyr Zelenskiy and said specialists should first develop lasting arrangements. Zelenskiy said the response showed no wish to stop fighting in a conflict now in its fifth year.
