US lifts ban on Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The US government has lifted the export controls that forced Anthropic to shut down its two most powerful AI models, the company said on Tuesday. The Commerce Department had blocked Fable 5 and Mythos 5 on 12 June over national security concerns tied to a claimed jailbreak, taking both offline worldwide for more than two weeks. Anthropic said it will begin restoring access on Wednesday, ending an 18-day standoff with the Trump administration.
