600 kg NASA Satellite Falls Back to Earth
Most of a NASA satellite burned up during its re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, with any remaining pieces safely landing in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, away from people. The Van Allen Probe A descended on March 11th, 2026, at 06:37 EDT, after orbiting for almost 14 years. Scientists had predicted a 2034 return, but increased solar activity caused atmospheric drag, prompting its early fall.
