DeepSeek shook Nvidia once. It isn't done yet
China's AI champion wants control of its own silicon, cutting reliance on Nvidia and even homegrown supplier Huawei. Reuters reported on Monday that DeepSeek has spent about a year designing a chip for inference, the stage where a trained model answers users. The effort is early, with the firm quietly hiring chip engineers and courting manufacturers, and Nvidia shares slipped on the news.
