Nationwide rebel says rival board role was offered

Members voting in the board election now face conflicting accounts over how one candidate was treated before next week’s annual meeting. James Sherwin-Smith said Nationwide offered help to secure a board position at a smaller rival if he ended his campaign, following an April phone call. Nationwide denied making any offer in exchange for withdrawing and said no such proposal was made.
