Six major apps given deadline to protect under-13s

Children's safety on social media is again under scrutiny after the regulator ordered six major platforms to explain how they will stop under-13s accessing their services. Ofcom gave Facebook, Instagram, Roblox, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube until 30 April 2026 to set out their plans. The regulator warned that industry efforts remain inadequate, with many firms still failing to make child safety a core design priority.
