First baby born in UK from deceased donor womb.
Grace Bell gave birth to a boy named Hugo just before Christmas 2025 following a landmark medical procedure. Doctors at The Churchill Hospital performed a ten-hour operation in June 2024 to transplant the organ from a deceased woman. This arrival marks a major success for a clinical trial involving ten planned surgeries. Although another UK baby arrived earlier using a living donor, this is the first success involving a donation after death.
