Finnish Therapy Data Breach Mastermind Convicted After Vastaamo Hack
Aleksanteri Kivimäki, who called himself an 'untouchable hacker god,' has been found guilty on all charges related to the Vastaamo data breach. In late October 2020, 33,000 Finnish citizens were impacted when their therapy notes were exposed after Vastaamo, a psychotherapy company, was hacked. Victims received demands for €200-€500 in bitcoin to prevent their personal information from being released, including names, addresses, social security numbers, and therapy transcripts. The incident has been described as the biggest crime Finland has ever known.
