US gives India 30 days to buy stranded Russian oil
The US Treasury Department has temporarily eased sanctions to allow India to purchase Russian oil currently held up at sea. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the 30-day waiver, saying it would keep oil moving through global markets. Bessent said the move was needed to ease pressure caused by Iran's attempts to take global energy supply hostage. The waiver is a short-term measure tied directly to the ongoing Iran conflict.
