UK Broadband Crisis: Rats Are Literally Eating the Internet
Rats chewing through fibre optic cables are causing service disruptions and major costs across the UK. London provider G.Network entered administration in early 2026, carrying £300 million in debt, after rat damage to its cables caused a potential rescue deal to collapse. A similar 2023 incident left the entire Tring area without internet after rats destroyed Openreach cables.
