Africa's Solar Growth Just Hit an All-Time Record
Africa installed solar power at a record pace in 2025, with capacity growing 54% — the sharpest single-year acceleration in the continent's history, according to the Global Solar Council. More than half came from large-scale utility installations, but household and business adoption is also surging rapidly. Analysts point to falling panel costs and India-style electrification models as the driving forces. Experts say Africa is now building its energy future without the fossil fuel dependency that slowed earlier industrialising nations.
