24 universities face insolvency risk this year
Students require improved government protection should universities in England become unable to pay their debts. The Education Select Committee reported 24 institutions, including seven with over 3,000 students, are at risk of insolvency within the next 12 months. Many of these are already cutting jobs, closing courses, and selling buildings, with a major university failure a 'real possibility.'
