CMA wins appeal in Pfizer drug case
NHS medicine costs jumped sharply after price rises for an epilepsy treatment, leading to years of legal action over alleged overcharging. A court has ruled the Competition Appeal Tribunal was wrong to overturn the Competition and Markets Authority’s findings against the drug company and its distributor. Spending on phenytoin sodium rose from about £2.3m a year before 2012 to more than £50m in 2013.
