Yuan surges as China prepares record low growth target
China's annual Two Sessions parliamentary meetings open this week as Beijing prepares to unveil its 15th Five-Year Plan covering 2026 to 2030. The GDP growth target is expected to drop to a record low of around 4.5 to 5 percent. The sessions take on added significance amid the Middle East crisis, with China having quietly reduced Iranian oil imports while increasing Russian purchases. The yuan saw its strongest appreciation in ten months.
