Britain's 35C May Heat: Ice Sales Triple, Fans At 3/Minute
People across Britain bought cooling products as indoor temperatures climbed during hot spring weather. Retailers said purchases of sunscreen, ice cubes, blackout blinds and tubs jumped after temperatures reached 35C at Heathrow and Kew Gardens on Tuesday. Tesco reported ice sales were three times higher than a week earlier, while Dimplex said its devices were leaving shops at three units a minute.
