London trains slow to 20mph as heatwave buckles rails
Many London train operators are telling passengers to avoid travel this week because of the heatwave. Network Rail has put speed restrictions in place to stop buckled rails and sagging electric wires as temperatures reach up to 38C. This affects lines like Avanti West Coast, c2c, Chiltern Railways, Great Western Railway, and LNER.
