US Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship IRIS Dena Off Sri Lanka
A US military submarine sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena approximately 40 nautical miles off Galle, southern Sri Lanka, leaving at least 101 crew members missing and 78 wounded, according to US officials cited by Reuters. The 180-crew Moudge-class vessel issued a distress call at dawn. Sri Lanka deployed navy vessels and aircraft, rescuing 32 critically wounded sailors now receiving treatment at Karapitiya Hospital in Galle. The US military had previously stated its goal of destroying Iran's entire navy.
