304 MPs Back Bill Limiting England Jury Trials
Ordinary people in England and Wales might face limited jury trial access under new government plans. MPs approved moving the Courts and Tribunals Bill forward, voting 304 to 203, despite some Labour opposition. The Justice Secretary stated it's needed to lessen court backlogs, and the bill would end jury trials for offences carrying under a three-year sentence.
