UK sanctions nine Russians over chemical weapons development
Britain has sanctioned seven individuals and two scientific organizations, alleging their involvement in the creation of chemical weapons. Among these are the Novichok nerve agent, implicated in the 2018 Salisbury attack, and the epibatidine toxin, which was used to poison Alexei Navalny in 2024. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated that Russia's continued use of chemical weapons represents an "appalling breach of international law."
