Parents File Landmark Lawsuit Against Meta Over Teen Sextortion Deaths
Two families from Scotland and Pennsylvania have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Meta following their teenagers' suicides after sextortion schemes on Instagram. Murray Dowey, 16, from Dunblane and Levi Maciejewski, 13, from Pennsylvania both took their own lives after being blackmailed by predators posing as young girls. The lawsuit alleges Meta prioritized profit over safety despite knowing Instagram exposed children to predators since 2019.
