Swiss to vote on 10m population cap
This weekend, Swiss people are voting on a far-right proposal to cap their population at 10 million by 2050, a first for any nation. The Swiss People’s Party (SVP) proposed the plan, which could force withdrawal from the EU free movement agreement if breached. Around 27 per cent of Switzerland's current 9.1 million residents are foreign, a figure the SVP says is too high.
