Chinese carmaker Chery is opening a Bedfordshire research centre this autumn

Cars from China now account for roughly 15% of new UK registrations, helped by their lower prices. Chery will open the site at the UTAC Millbrook testing facility this autumn to design chassis and safety systems specifically for British drivers. The brand is also exploring a partnership with Nissan to build passenger models at its Sunderland factory.
