Israel strikes 40 sites in Lebanon despite ceasefire deal

Continued strikes risk prolonging tensions despite a pause deal meant to reduce fighting. In the past 24 hours, Israel said it attacked more than 40 sites in southern Lebanon, including command centres and other infrastructure, according to an IDF update on X. The ceasefire agreed on 16 April allows self-defence actions, while reports describe ongoing bombing damage across towns.
