Climate adviser warns reduced plans cost UK £100bn annually.
Higher living costs and weaker investment could follow if climate plans are reduced, according to the UK's chief climate adviser. Nigel Topping said on 24 June that a Climate Change Committee report found strong progress in renewable energy and electric vehicle use but slower heat pump take-up. It says the net zero economy adds about £100bn each year and heat pumps could save rural homes up to £1,900 annually.
