Tintwistle Moor fire shuts A628, burns for over 24 hours
Travel has been disrupted, while smoke and ash have spread across nearby communities as firefighters work to control a large blaze. It began about 10pm on Wednesday on Tintwistle Moor near Glossop, and crews were still tackling it after more than 24 hours with helicopter support. More than 500 square metres of moorland and woodland have burned, and the A628 Woodhead Pass remains shut.
