India intercepts three U.S. sanctioned tankers linked to Iran
Indian authorities have seized three oil tankers connected to Iran that were under U.S. sanctions, boosting maritime monitoring to crack down on illicit trade in waters off Mumbai. The vessels, which frequently altered identities to avoid detection, were detained this month as part of efforts to stop ship-to-ship transfers that conceal cargo origins. The move coincides with warming ties between New Delhi and Washington, including a recent reduction in U.S. import tariffs on Indian goods.
