OpenAI Saves $1M Daily After Shutting Down Sora
OpenAI's decision to close its video-generation tool Sora will free up computing resources the company needs elsewhere. The app launched to fanfare but user numbers fell from around one million to fewer than 500,000, whilst costing roughly $1 million daily to operate. Disney, which had committed $1 billion to a partnership, learned of the shutdown less than an hour before the public announcement.
