UK to regulate crypto firms from 2027, Treasury says
The UK government intends to broaden the scope of its current financial regulations to encompass cryptocurrency firms, mirroring the strategy adopted by the US. Draft legislation was released by the Treasury in April, detailing the regulatory framework for crypto exchanges and the issuing of stablecoins. Chancellor Rachel Reeves said this regulation would provide "clear rules of the road" and keep "dodgy actors" out of the market.
