US economy added 178,000 jobs in March
The American labour market bounced back after job losses the previous month, with healthcare and hospitality sectors leading the gains. Unemployment dipped slightly to 4.3%, though that was partly because fewer people were actively searching for work rather than a jump in hiring. The figures landed on the same day the White House released a record $1.5 trillion defence spending request.
