UK Drivers Could Hit Record Petrol Prices Within 10 Days, AA Warns
Brent crude jumped over 10% to $82 a barrel on Monday as the Iran conflict disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil flows. The AA's president Edmund King warned UK drivers could see record prices at the pump within 10 to 12 days. Petrol currently averages around 131.9p per litre in the UK, but analysts say oil at $100 per barrel would push that toward 150p, levels not seen since the post-Ukraine energy crisis. Capital Economics added that a $100 oil price would add 0.6 to 0.7 percentage points to global inflation.
