UK House Prices Edge Higher in October Despite Pre-Budget Caution

UK house prices rose by 0.3% in October compared with September, according to Nationwide’s latest House Price Index. The annual growth rate climbed slightly to 2.4%, with the average property now costing £272,226. Economists said the modest rise reflected resilient demand despite high mortgage rates and subdued buyer confidence ahead of the UK budget. Nationwide added that affordability pressures may ease next year if wage growth continues and borrowing costs fall.
