BBC stops long wave radio after 100 years
Listeners using long wave must now switch to other ways of hearing BBC Radio 4, though its programmes will still be available. Broadcasting on the service ended at 1am on Saturday after the BBC decided the ageing technology no longer justified continued spending. Radio 4 has used the frequency since 1978, and separate long wave scheduling ended in 2024.
