Doctors lose 1,000 new training posts for striking
The government has cancelled 1,000 extra specialty training posts for resident doctors after the British Medical Association refused to call off a six-day strike planned for next week. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer had given the union a 48-hour deadline on Tuesday to end the industrial action. The BMA rejected the ultimatum, saying the government's offer on pay and jobs fell short.
