Pakistan is attacking Afghanistan due to accusations that the Taliban government is harbouring a militant group responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians across their shared border. Pakistan has launched airstrikes, targeting Afghanistan's military infrastructure to directly pressure the Taliban administration. This marks a renewed escalation, breaking a previous cease-fire. Afghanistan, in turn, accuses Pakistan of causing significant civilian casualties, including at a drug treatment centre in Kabul.
