Thousands of government mortgage loans aren't getting paid back

A significant number of government mortgage loans remain uncleared. Numerous benefit-receiving households are currently not making active repayments on their government mortgage assistance loans. The Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) program offers loans that recipients are required to repay when their property is sold or its ownership changes.
