Melting roads push AA breakdowns to 34,000 in 4 days

Drivers could face tyre failures and longer waits for roadside help as high temperatures put pressure on vehicles and road surfaces across Britain. AA president Edmund King issued the warning on Wednesday after temperatures reached 35.1C in Kew Gardens and parts of East Anglia saw roads soften. Between Friday and Monday, AA attended 34,124 breakdowns, 15 per cent more than during holiday last year.
