Bennett, Brassard win $1M Turing Award for quantum cryptography.
Secure future electronic communications could be redefined by a new form of unbreakable encryption. American physicist Charles Bennett and Canadian computer scientist Gilles Brassard were honored with the esteemed Turing Award this Wednesday, in recognition of their pioneering achievements. Their quantum cryptography theory, known as BB84, dates to 1984, fundamentally changing secure data sharing and includes a $1 million prize.
