Political uncertainty drives up UK borrowing costs
Political upheaval is "enormously disruptive" and makes government borrowing more expensive, according to a former top civil servant. Simon Case, who was the UK's top civil servant, told the BBC that political uncertainty "costs us money" by increasing borrowing. City investors are worried a Labour leadership contest could push up UK government borrowing costs further.
