Burnham says UK could bring in more sanctions over Gaza

Andy Burnham has taken a tougher line on Israel, saying the UK would consider further sanctions over the violence in Gaza and measures to ban trade in goods from illegal settlements. The man expected to become prime minister within days said Labour was too slow to call for a ceasefire at the start of the war, while also condemning the Hamas attacks of October 2023. He has previously declined to describe the war as a genocide.
