First Bramley apple tree garden listed for sale
Nottingham Trent University has listed the Southwell cottages containing the original Bramley apple tree for sale. The university says the buildings are no longer suitable for students, but the 200-year-old plant currently lacks a legal preservation order. Celia Steven, whose ancestor helped commercialise the fruit, fears that new owners might chop down the unprotected tree since it is not guarded by law.
