Getty scraps Shutterstock merger after UK regulator's specific demand

Getty Images has ended its $3.7 billion merger with Shutterstock after UK regulators demanded the sale of Shutterstock's editorial business. The deal, which would have created a huge stock photo and content licensing company, had cleared US antitrust review. Getty said it was not required to accept the conditions, which included selling celebrity photo agencies Backgrid and Splash.
