PIP disability benefits are not fit for purpose, minister's review finds
A government minister's review concluded that disability benefits, including Personal Independence Payments, require significant reform as they are no longer suitable for their intended use. PIP provides financial assistance to individuals experiencing long-term disabilities across England and Wales, helping them manage additional expenses related to housing, employment, and care. Last year, £26 billion was spent on PIP, with projections indicating an increase to over £41 billion by 2030.
