Bailey: Higher inflation 'acceptable' despite rising prices
Households and businesses could face higher prices for longer as policymakers watch the Iran war and weak UK growth. Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey said on Friday that inflation staying above the bank’s 2% goal was acceptable for now. Interest rates stayed unchanged on April 30, while markets expect one quarter-point rise and a one-in-three chance of another in 2026.
